Spiritual Warfare in the Book of Psalms – 261

Filed under: Spiritual Warfare School — kellporten @ 14:19

Scripture:

Ps. 143:4
Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me …

(Swedish version: “My spirit languishes away within me …”)

Comment:

When the evil spiritual world attacks us, we can feel as if we are loosing our spiritual life. The attacks sometimes cry so loud, that we don’t hear the gentle whisper of the Holy Spirit within us. In those situations we must hold on to the truth that the enemy cannot enter our spirit if we have invited Jesus into our life. As a believer, we have a protected area within us.

The evil spirits want us to walk according to our flesh, i.e. our fallen nature. If we give in to the temptations which the enemy offers, our flesh will rule us instead of the Holy Spirit. God has meant for our flesh to languish away, not our spirit.

Rom. 8:5-8
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Rom. 8:13
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
