Spiritual Warfare in the Book of Psalms – 228

Ps. 140:5 (ESV)
… with cords they have spread a net; beside the way they have set snares for me …

(Swedish version: “They spread nets beside the way, they set snares for me”)

They spread nets beside the way

It is very important that we walk in the middle of God’s road. That is true when it comes to spiritual warfare as well as our walk with God as a whole.

Many believers try to walk as close to the roadside as possible. They want to be on God’s road, but they also want to live in the world. That is dangerous. Nets have been spread at the roadside, and the intention is to capture us.

The evil spirits try to tempt us to walk beside the way, and most of all they want us to take side tracks. But, if we walk in the middle of the road, we can walk in safety.

they set snares for me

When setting a snare, a bait is used to lead the victim into it. The evil spirits watch us to find out what our weaknesses are, and they will use a bait that will tempt us. It is so important that when the Holy Spirit wants to deal with our weaknesses, we listen to, and obey Him. The more we allow Him to do in us, the less chance the enemy has to tempt us.
