Spiritual Warfare in the Book of Psalms – part 97

Ps 37:10 (ESV)
In just a little while, the wicked will be no more; though you look carefully at his place, he will not be there.

The evil spirits will be sent away; first for a time, by the church, and then by Jesus for ever.

The evil spirits are not here to stay. God’s plan is that every evil spirit should be sent away. As long as the church is here on earth its mission is to put the enemies of Jesus under his feet. When the belivers have been raptured, there will be a period of ‘freedom’ for the evil spirits, but that period will be short. Jesus will come back and cast every one of them into the lake of fire.

It’s the church’s mission to imprison the evil spirits. The bible calls that prison the abyss, or the bottomless pit. In the end time that abyss will be opened up and ‘grasshoppers’ will come out from it (Rev. 9:1-11). Those grasshoppers symbolize evil spirits.

Ps. 110:1 and Hebr. 10:12-13 speaks about Jesus sitting at the right hand of the Father, waiting for his enemies to be made his footstool. The Swedish bible versions suggest that Jesus will remain at the Fathers side until his enemies have been put under his feet. We believe that God’s plan is that the earth should be free from evil spirits for a time. It’s our responsibility to bind and send them to the bottomless pit. We know that Jesus will finally cast them into the lake of fire.
