The name of Jesus is a guarantee for answered prayer

John 14:13
And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

John 15:16
You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.

John 16:23-24
23 “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.
24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

Paul challenges us to speak and to act in the name of Jesus

Col. 3:17
And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

What does it mean to believe in the name of Jesus?

When we use the name of Jesus, we should believe that we have the same authority as if Jesus Himself is present with us, and that sickness and demons have to submit to His name.

Phil. 2:9-10
9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,

We are commanded to believe in the name of Jesus

1 John 3:23
And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
