Spiritual weapons: The name of Jesus – part 1

Filed under: Spiritual Warfare School — kellporten @ 13:45

The name of Jesus represents everything that Jesus is. His name represents all His power, and His authority.

Matt. 18:20
For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them

Jesus said, He is there with us, when His name is used. His name has the same power as if He was with us in person.

The disciples preached about the name of Jesus

Acts 4:12
Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved

Acts 8:12
But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.

The disciples were aware of the power in the name of Jesus

Acts 3:6
Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”

Acts 4:10
let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole.

We should use the name of Jesus when we cast out evil spirits

Mark 16:17
And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons …

Jesus told us to use His name when casting out evil spirits. When we proclaim the name of Jesus it works like a power of attorney. It is like Jesus Himself is casting out the spirits.

The evil spirits must obey Jesus, and they must obey us when we use His name.

Luke 10:17
Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”

Apg 16:18
And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour.
