Scripture:

Ps. 18:37
… neither did I turn again till they were consumed.

Comment:

We are supposed to render the enemy harmless.

People, within the body of Christ, those who do not ignore spiritual warfare, mostly intend to keep the enemy away from themselves.

It is correct that we should keep the enemy at a distance, but we have a bigger assignment. We are supposed to bind the evil spirits, so they will be unable to hurt ourselves or others.

But Jesus did not bind any spirits? That is correct, he did what he was supposed to do, but he also said that when he went to the father, we were going to do greater deeds than he had done.

To be able to manage the assignment that God has for the church, we have to start thinking in a new way. Jesus is waiting for his enemies to be put under his feet (Hebr. 10:12-13), i.e. that the church renders the evil spirits harmless. In order to do this we need to go from defensive warfare to aggressive warfare.
