Ps. 8:2
Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.

Our enemy or God’s enemy?

Ps 8:2 says that God adds His power to our words because of His enemies. Therefore, they are fundamentally God’s enemies. But, since we are created by God, and the enemy is attacking God’s creation, we too are enemies of the enemy. The evil spirit world is very much aware that we, the believers, are channels for God’s power. Therefore we are being especially attacked.

Who are our enemies?

We cannot emphasize enough that people are not our enemies, the evil spirits are.

Eph. 6:12
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

It is important for us to fight against our real enemy – the evil spiritual world.

What is our enemy like?

The word enemies, in Ps. 8:2 is translated from the original Hebrew word tsarar. Tsarar means to cramp. It can also be translated …

• Distress
• Narrower
• Oppress
• Pangs
• Shut up
• Vex

Ps. 8:2 thus pictures the enemy as attacking, tormenting and limiting us.
