Scripture:

Ps 5:9 NIV
Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with destruction. Their throat is an open grave.

Comment:

You can’t trust evil spirits.

Is it really necessary to have an extra part about the fact that one cannot trust evil spirits? It may seem totally obvious that you can’t trust evil spirits. And still we get deceived by them over and over again. Why is that?
We have already mentioned one reason, which is we get hit by a force. But another reason is that the evil spirits use tools. If they should manifest themselves, be visible and openly show their intentions, very few people would be deceived. Instead they use human beings to be able to deceive. The persons that are being used, are very seldom aware of it. Most often surely they have no idea they are tools being used by the enemy.
Therefore we need to check the source of a statement, no matter what person it comes through.

1 John 4:1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

1 Thess. 5:20-21
Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good…

This is not written to make you suspicious of the people around you. But, to accept everything that a person says indiscriminately, just because the person seems to be trustworthy, is not the right thing to do. We need to be spiritually awake, with a sensitive ear, and take the Holy Spirit seriously when He comes with His quiet voice in our inner man to warn us.
