Out of the mouth of babes (Ps 8:2) – part 1

Filed under: Spiritual Warfare School — kellporten @ 19:32

Ps. 8:2
Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.

What does Ps 8:2 tell us about spiritual warfare?

Ps 8:2 is a very important scripture when it comes to spiritual warfare. It talks about:

  • The conditions for us to be used, by God, in spiritual warfare
  • The authority that has been given to us
  • The character of the enemy
  • How we should deal with the enemy

What are the conditions for us to be used by God in spiritual warfare?

There are several conditions for us to be used, by God, in spiritual warfare:

  • We need to be God’s children, i.e. we need to be born again Christians
  • We need to realize we have received delegated authority
  • We need to know that there is an enemy
  • We need to speak commands against the enemy

Why does Ps. 8:2 speak about babes?

Ps. 8:2 refers to suckling children. From a spiritual viewpoint we interpret that as someone who has received Jesus into his heart, but is just a babe in his spiritual maturing process. That means, we can be used by God as soon as we are saved. We don’t need to wait for a certain level of maturity. Spiritual warfare is for everybody.
