Prov. 25:4 (ISV)
Purge the dross from the silver, and material for a vessel comes forth for the silversmith.

Let’s here interpret silver as speaking the right words.

Prov. 10:20
The tongue of the righteous is choice silver …

It is important for us to speak what is right. Just like silver can be mixed with dross, what we speak can sometimes be mixed with wrong words.

Imagine that you are praying for your city, proclaiming the breakthrough for the Kingdom of God there. Then imagine that you meet a friend and say: “It is so spiritually dark in our city. I wonder if we will ever experience a revival here?” By talking like that you break the effect of what you prayed before.

God wants to use you in the spiritual battle, and He wants you to be an effective tool. Therefore He wants to help you stop speaking what is negative and what is filled with disbelief. In that process you have a responsibility to think about what you say. Choose to speak by faith, and close your mouth for the incorrect words!
