Spiritual Warfare in the Book of Proverbs – part 190

Prov. 19:25
Strike a scoffer, and the simple will become wary …

There is a great ignorance among Christians concerning spiritual warfare. This is a problem because of many different things, but ultimately it’s all about the evil spiritual world trying to prevent us from getting hold of the truth.

The scripture talks about “a scoffer”, and we choose to interpret that as the enemy. Some synonyms for ‘scoff at’ is blaspheme, abuse, insult and taunt, and these are really significant tools for the activity of the enemy.

So what does it mean to ”Strike the scoffer”? Here we interpret that as attacking the evil spirits.

There is a great need for teaching about spiritual warfare. We, the believers, need to gain knowledge about our authority in Christ Jesus. We also need to know about the tactics of the enemy, and about our mission to stop the ravage of the enemy. In order for that kind of teaching to reach people, and to be received, we need to command the obstructive principalities to back off.
